How do we celebrate 50 years of the Mica Generating Station without creating an anniversary piece that becomes irrelevant once the celebration is over?
The opportunity was to connect the people who built Mica in 1976 with those carrying that work forward today while creating assets with lasting value beyond the milestone itself.
BC Hydro received a comprehensive visual library that preserved Mica’s 50th anniversary.
The matched archival footage connected the people who built the station with those carrying its legacy forward today.
Beyond the celebration, the assets can support recruitment, internal communications and future facility storytelling. A one-time milestone became a lasting institutional resource.

The resulting match cuts made 50 years of continuity visible rather than simply explaining it. BC Hydro gained both a meaningful anniversary story and an evergreen visual library that can continue supporting recruitment, internal communications, institutional history and future facility storytelling.
